Higher education in Ireland
Higher education in Ireland is provided by universities, technological universities, institutes of technology and colleges of education. In addition, a number of other third-level institutions provide specialist education in fields such as art and design, medicine, business studies, rural development, theology, music and law. The entry requirements for international students to higher education are determined individually by each institution and are generally based on national examination performance and English language ability. The Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is responsible for developing and maintaining the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) and for quality standards (Quality Assurance and Pastoral Care) in both the higher education sector and English Language schools. Qualifications recognized through the NFQ are quality assured. It means that your course and the institution, at which you are studying, are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Refund Policy:
Students who have paid some or all of their fees to a college and are then refused a visa will be refunded the cost of the course. They must provide documented evidence of this refusal. Any charge or percentage charge deducted from fees by the college for administration purposes must be clearly stated in its refund policy.
Scholarships
There are hundreds of scholarships available for international students from a wide variety of sources such as the Government of Ireland, the Irish higher education institutions, and other organizations. These are awarded solely at the discretion of the individual organizations that set down their own criteria for eligibility.
Living Costs in Ireland
Precisely how much you will need will vary depending on where you are studying in Ireland, on the type of accommodation you choose and, of course, on your own personal lifestyle. But, on average, we estimate that a student will spend between €7,000 and €12,000 per year.

Students from non-EU countries are not covered for any free medical attention off-campus and must therefore have their own private insurance. Please note that heavy levies are charged for all hospitalization and it is advised to make provision for adequate medical insurance. Non-EU students are required to show proof of comprehensive medical insurance when registering with the Garda National Immigration Bureau. Proof of health insurance is also required when applying for a student visa.
International students holding a valid immigration stamp 2 permission to allow to take up casual employment. They can work up to 20 hours a week during term time and up to 40 hours a week in the holidays. Holiday periods have been standardized - June to September inclusive and from 15 December to 15 January.

You can apply for a study visa if you are planning to come to Ireland to undertake a course of study for more than 3 months. And you can apply for a study visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to Ireland.

Outlining your reason for wanting to come to Ireland, giving details of your family, undertaking that you will observe the conditions of your visa.
If any such gap in education has been filled by periods of employment, you must give full details of your employment history.
Where the course fees are less than €6,000, fees must be paid in full to the college prior to applying for your visa. Where the course fees are in excess of €6,000, you must pay at least this amount prior to applying for your visa and evidence of this should be shown in your Letter of Acceptance. This minimum amount is an Immigration requirement.

You must show that you have sufficient funds to support your stay in Ireland without recourse to public funds, or the reliance on casual employment.
Your College may arrange this on your behalf. If so, details of this must be included in your Letter of Acceptance from the college. If it is not arranged by the college, you must organize this yourself and provide evidence with your application.
